The thing that annoys me is he was: 1. Concealed carrying (Legally) 2. Only carrying what most CC people I know do. 1 locked and loaded weapon and 2 spare magazines. Don't get how the right is sitting there saying he was there to massacre people. Seems to me he was just prepared for a fight that takes more than 1 magazines of ammo. Typical CC recommendations when I took my class a few years back. I was told to carry a loaded weapon with an almost full magazine (1 in the chamber) and AT LEAST 2 spare magazines both 1 round short of max to reduce stress on the springs. Still carry this. He wasn't going to shoot anyone, unless its the last resort.

There are a lot if things that need to happen between those two points, a lot of work, a lot of things probably getting worse, and a real effort from the american people. Maybe we saw the beginning of the beginning this weekend. There is zero guarantee anything happens to any of these people.
There will be no simple return to normal when this is over. Yet, for them - going by history, most nazis simply returned to their normal lives, some escaped or offed themselves, and a select few were actually punished. That was for a world war.
Don't forget, a significant portion of the american population is still cheering this on with their guns, not capable of understanding irony.
I agree with your feelings, but I am not confident in your wishes becoming reality.

Far more people are in concentration camps now than in 1939 Germany so let that sink in. Gestapo was moderate compared to ICE.

In August 1939, just before Germany and the USSR invaded and carved up Poland, there were only 21,000 people in German concentration camps according to my quick google.
Currently, reports show more than 73,000 people in ICE detention.
EDIT: thanks for the reward but all I did was google to check out and enhance u/punarob's comment. Also, try to avoid giving money to reddit. Send money to support protests, ACLU, or Ukraine.
EDIT 2: As pointed out below, the German population in 1939 was about 70,000,000. So per capita the rates were different, though close. Furthermore, I don't mean to inadvertently downplay the horrors of the Nazis and the gestapo. Fuck nazis and fuck ICE. I'll stop there to avoid a ban.

They are already feeding them rotten food, not providing blankets in unheated buildings, refusing to let them shower and denying medical care.
It's going to happen sooner rather than later, which is why some of us have been screaming about it for a year now. We saw the writing on the wall and people still kept insisting we were "hysterical", "alarmists", "fear mongering" etc.
And even still, people will not wake the fuck up. They are so comfortable in their delusions that something like that "can't happen here".

THANK YOU! It has been a year of peaceful protesting and “going high when they go low” and they just continue to escalate. This is going to end in the Insurrection Act being activated and starting the full on civil war regardless. They’ve proven they don’t care about phones and “evidence” when they can just say “don’t believe your eyes!” How many more of our neighbors, coworkers, friends and family need to be murdered in cold blood before people wake tf up? It’s extremely naive to think we can turn this around without violence at this point. ICE has made it clear that if they make contact you’re already maimed or dead, even if you comply, in that case I’m gonna fight like hell and take some out with me at least. At this point being a domestic terrorist is a badge of honor saying “I’m American af and believe in the constitution and human rights.” (I’m just waiting for my permaban for ‘inciting violence’).

→ More replies (5)83

Some other things you should take away from the Milgram experiments are that 35-40% of people did stand up to the authority figures and refuse.
We should also remember that in that situation, it was one person alone standing up to people who purported to have the moral authority to override the lone individual's conscience. That's why it's so important in the real world to be vocal about what is right, so you can reinforce the instincts of the good people to follow what their gut tells them is right and not trust in the authority trying to override them.

Well, to be fair, it's not the best comparison.
The Gestapo were secret police. The SA (sometimes referred to as "brownshirts"), on the other hand, were just uniformed thugs and bullies whose main purpose was street intimidation.
I think it's clear that ICE are much more like the SA.
All that being said, if they're bothered by being called Gestapo, then fuck it: let's keep calling them Gestapo.

The Fed would immediately take over policing and we have martial law in one day flat going that route. I understand the sentiment, but we gotta be careful with even our hypotheticals since the administration is doing everything they can tp push the idea of thought crimes being punishable.
By the way, I just got a "warning" from Reddit for merely upvoting comments that "promoted violence." They even explicitly noted that nothing I said was against TOS, but upvoting anything that is also counts somehow. The actions of Chief Bovino demonstrate a deviation from written law in favor of individual decree. By threatening consequences for criticism, he is unilaterally creating new rules of conduct without the legislative process or judicial review required by democratic systems. When a figure in authority invents penalties for speech to protect their institution's image, they are substituting the constitution with personal whim. This pattern mirrors the early stages of authoritarian consolidation where the enforcer becomes the law. If allowed to proceed, the distinction between legal statute and executive desire vanishes, leaving citizens subject to the shifting moods of those in power rather than the stability of codified rights.
